Sorry for the delay in posting to this blog . . . combination of lack of Internet service at times and fatigue/lack of time at the end of the day. Here’s a hodgepodge of sites we’ve visited up to this point.
Praying at Elijah’s cave (where he hid from the pagan prophets of Baal) under the Carmelite Monastery, Stella Maris, located on Mt. Carmel (in Haifa, Israel).
Here is our pilgrimage group standing in front of Elijah’s statue at Muhraqa, on the other side of Mt. Carmel. This is where Elijah challenged the 450 pagan prophets of Baal to a contest of whose God would consume their sacrifice. Read 1 Kings 18.
Grotto in the Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth — this is the location where the Archangel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would become the Mother of the Messiah.
Fr. Aaron Junge and Fr. Chris Podhajsky celebrate Mass in the Basilica of the Annunciation.
This is the synagogue in Capernaum where Jesus gave His Bread of Life discourse (John 6).
